The theatrical arrangement makes the scene feel almost like a stage set, 1920 Toy Story Paris. It can be read as a child’s collection of favourite toys carefully arranged for a portrait, yet the artist has given the figures such personality that they appear to be caught midway through their own private gathering.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe painting is signed, although frustratingly the signature is presently concealed beneath the stretcher and we have therefore not yet been able to positively identify the artist.
