antique-pastoral-rural-landscape-oil-78100
Antique Pastoral Rural Landscape Oil Painting, Gold Frame

A beautiful French landscape dated 1829, depicting a picturesque village with the ruins of an ancient stone building overlooking a winding country road. Small figures walk between rustic houses beneath a luminous sky, while distant hills create a wonderfully peaceful rural setting. Signed Gere, an artist we have not yet been able to identify, and presented in a magnificent antique gilt frame with elaborate floral corner ornamentation.

The landscape is particularly appealing for its contrast between the dark, weathered buildings and the soft, luminous sky. Gentle shades of blue, cream and pale gold illuminate the distance, while earthy browns and muted greens give the foreground a rich, natural character. The composition also recalls the tradition of the picturesque architectural landscape, popular among French artists during the early decades of the 19th century.

Good antique condition with age-related surface character consistent with its period. The antique gilt frame retains a beautiful historic patina, with expected rubbing, marks, darkening and small areas of wear to the gilded ornamentation.

French School
Dated 1829
Oil painting
Village landscape with medieval ruins
Signed Gere
Artist currently unidentified
Ornate antique gilt frame

Sizing incl Frame:
Height: 17.72 inch (45cm)
Width: 20.87 inch (53cm)
Depth: 2.76 inch (7cm)

Sizing Painting:
Height: 12.99 inch (33cm)
Width: 15.75 inch (40cm)
FREE International Shipping

Insurance:
All products are shipped in good boxes and very well packaged.

All products are shipped fully insured for international shipping.
