19th Century Antique French Still Life - Fish Original Oil Painting on Canvas by Georges Jean-Marie Haquette (1854–1906)

This stunning oil painting by the well known artist Georges Jean-Marie Haquette (1854–1906) captures the shadows and lights so well. The beautiful antique gilt frame complements this piece perfectly. This painting shows signs of its age and has had some repairs. These are not very noticible on the front of the work. The frame also shows signs of its age, please see all photos.

About the artist:

Georges Haquette, born in Paris in 1854, honed his artistic skills under the tutelage of Aime Millet, the sculptor, and Cabanel, both eminent figures of the 19th century art scene. It was through Cabanel's guidance that he mastered the intricacies of figure painting. Haquette's choice of subject matter was heavily influenced by prominent French Realist artists like Courbet and Millet. While the theme of the peasant was popular among artists of his time, Haquette distinguished himself by depicting the harvesters of the sea rather than those working the fields. He debuted at the Paris Salon in 1875 and remained a consistent presence there throughout his career, earning recognition with an honorable mention in 1878, a third-class medal in 1880, and a second-class medal in 1901.

We've been running an online antiques and art business for many years now and have become specialists at packaging. All items will be packaged very carefully with the materials that are most suitable for the item.

A: Delivery times vary by destination. In general, 5-10 business days within Europe and 10-20 business days elsewhere.

A: As we do package all items very carefully with large amounts of quality packing materials, in the odd situation you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact our customer service team within 3 days of delivery with your order number and a description of the issue. We will provide instructions for returning the item at our expense and arrange for a replacement or refund.
