Artist Bio – Jules Rousset (1840–1921):
Jules Rousset was a French landscape painter born in Lyon in 1840 and active into the early 20th century. A student of the naturalist school that followed the Barbizon movement, Rousset painted forests, riversides and rural views across France. His work is characterized by its harmony of tone and close observation of light. Rousset exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in the late 19th century and received warm recognition for his sensitive depictions of wooded landscapes. His paintings are held in several regional French collections and remain admired for their atmospheric realism and refined technique.
