19th Century French School Male Nude Oil Painting on Canvas in Antique French Frame

A sublime antique oil painting nude study of a man. It is really an amazing piece of art. Done sometime in the late 19th century (Circa 1880), this work is a wonderful unfinished study done in oil paint that that came out of a private collection in Paris. A large (33 inch or 84cm) beautiful French school male nude study, oil on canvas. Very well painted and looks so artistic in it's half finished look. We always love half finished nude studies and buy them when we can. Very very rarely do we find these half finished nude studies done in oil painting, almost always pencil or chalk. This type of work done in Oil paint is incredibly unique. I've only seen a handful of these half finished works in my life, mostly in museums. The nude study can be found half finished with the "important parts" worked out buy the artist and the easier parts not completed yet. It is often the case that the model could leave the studio and the artist would finish the rest on his own or have the model come for another sitting. Comes in a beautiful antique frame and the painting is unsigned.

Condition: This painting has seen a professional restorer within the last 10 years for a cleaning and reset on its stretchers. Both the painting and frame are in good overall condition.

A really wonderful piece of art. One of my favourites I've had in a long time.
