Antique Floral Oil Painting – French Impressionist Romantic Roses Bouquet in Gold Frame

A charming French Impressionist floral still life signed “Forest”, dating to around 1920, depicting a loose arrangement of roses in a vase. A beautifully painterly vintage oil with Parisian character. The composition is intimate and relaxed, with blossoms loosely gathered and painted in expressive, visible brushstrokes. The petals are suggested rather than tightly defined, giving the flowers a sense of movement and spontaneity. The palette is warm and harmonious, with soft pinks and greens set against a muted, earthy background. The artist uses light touches of colour to bring the blooms forward, while the darker tones create depth and atmosphere.

Good vintage condition consistent with age. The surface shows natural texture and light wear. The frame shows age-related wear and patina. It is presented in an ornate gilt wood carved frame, which enhances its decorative presence and complements the warmth of the composition.
