RESERVED FOR SF - 19th Century French Impressionist Still Life Oil Painting signed in Ornate Antique Gold Frame

A beautiful antique oil painting of a dimly lit interior painting in an impressionist style painted in the late 19th Century (Circa 1890). This romantic dark and moody French oil painting shows flowers and books and other objects lighted by a table lamp. I also find this painting to be quite interesting from a technology and innovation perspective. The artist was clearly painting his/her table with fresh cut flowers lit by lamp light. At the time this was painted, electrical lamp light would have been a complete novelty in Paris as the first electrical light bulbs and the electrical lamp as seen in the painting would have just come into the market and used for the first time by Parisians.

This Antique oil painting is signed in lower right corner but I can't make out the artist. Frame has some signs of it's age but is in overall good condition.

A note about Impressionism:
Impressionism describes a style of painting developed in France during the mid-to-late 19th century; characterisations of the style include small, visible brushstrokes that offer the bare impression of form, unblended colour and an emphasis on the accurate depiction of natural light. The founding Impressionist artists – including Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and Edgar Degas, among others – were united by their desire to cast off the strict rules of academic-style painting. In particular, the artists sought independence from the Académie des Beaux-Arts and its annual "Paris Salon" (which was, at the time, considered the greatest art show in the world).

This painting has recently been to the restorer for a professional cleaning and new varnish applied. It will be able to be enjoyed by future generations before needing another professional cleaning.
