A beautiful pair (2) of Antique French Floral Oil Paintings in Gold Frames, dating from the mid-19th century (Circa 1840). Richly painted and highly decorative, these companion pieces feature classic garden flowers rendered with softness and elegance, each presented in their original gold gilt frame.

This matched pair of Antique French Floral Oil Paintings exemplifies the enduring popularity of floral still lifes in French interior decoration of the period. Each painting is individually composed yet clearly intended as a harmonious pair, sharing palette, scale, and painterly approach. The bouquets include a refined selection of traditional garden flowers, most notably roses, chrysanthemums, and dahlias, all popular subjects in 19th-century French floral painting. Soft pinks, warm creams, deep reds, and gentle yellows are layered against dark, atmospheric backgrounds, allowing the flowers to glow with depth and presence.

Good antique condition with age-related craquelure and surface wear consistent with works of this period. Paint surfaces are stable. The frames show gentle wear and patina, adding to their authentic antique character. Both paintings are housed in their original gold frames, featuring softly rounded corners, delicate ornamentation, and a warm antique patina that enhances their period charm and authenticity.
