Dated 1881 and marked for Saint Briac in Brittany, France. Depicting a coastline of Normandy, these sort of beaches and cliffs stretch the length in Normandy into Brittany from Dunkirk, passing of Mont St.Michel and down the coast to Saint Malo. Saint Briac is the town just on the other side of the harbour from Saint Malo. As many parts of this area were the location of the country homes of the Paris elite in the 19th Century, many amazing French painters had flourishing careers working in the region and traveling to and from Paris. This painting is unsigned and is painted on painters panel comes in its original gilded gold frame. This antique coastal painting has recently been cleaned, with a new varnish applied and is in good vintage condition. Ready to be hang, and to be enjoyed for generations.
