Louis Beroud (1852-1930) - Antique Parisian Woman Portrait Oil Painting

A beautiful Large French oil painting of a woman with a fan by the Parisian artist Louis Beroud (1852-1930). This Antique oil painting comes from France and dates for the early 1900s. Her clothing and this painting dates from around 1900-1905 when the S-Corset and high neck were the uniform for Paris nightclubs. The Colours are amazing, the Yellow and white are stunning with accents of red cutting through. At this time of his life, the artist Louis Beroud had been showing at many Salons in the 20 years prior to this painting and this was done at a time when Beroud career was in full swing and full of success.

This antique painting has a repair on the back but isn't very noticeable in the front of the work. This antique portrait oil painting is signed by the artist Louis Beraud (1852-1930) and comes in a newer frame.

About Louis Beroud (1852-1930)
Louis Beroud was born in 1852 in Lyon. He was best known for painting and was awarded the medal of honour at the Salon in 1882 and won the bronze medal at the Universal.Stumbling across a working artist and his accoutrements was not a rare occurrence for the museum goer in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Viewing and copying the museum's masterpieces was a traditional part of an artist's education. Indeed, Louis Beroud was such a frequent visitor to the Louvre that he is credited with sounding the alarm upon discovering the Mona Lisa's theft in 1911. As the Louvre would entertain artists all day, Louis Beroud painted the artists painting the work on the walls. Almost a documentary style paintings before the time of widespread photography. Louis was a well known artist in Paris, showing at many Salons in the 19th and 20th Century and his work showing artists at work in the Louvre took his name to stardom.
