Antique Portrait Oil Painting, Antique Portrait of a Young Woman, Antique Dutch Portrait Oil Painting, Dark Moody Oil Painting, Original, Signed in lower right corner by Dutch Painter Petrus Henricus Antonius de Zwart "Peter de Zwart" (1880-1967)

Description:
A beautiful antique oil painting of a Dutch Young Woman wearing a light blue dress. This Antique female portrait painting is very well painted in gorgeous blue tones giving a appreciation DenHaag (The Hague) Impressionist School. This antique portrait of a Dutch lady is painted with oil paint on Canvas. This piece is in good antique condition and comes in a newly made frame.

The artist, Peter de Zwart, was known for painting commissions of wealthy Dutch families. We do believe this is likely the daughter of a wealthy Dutch international trading merchant who had a keen interest in Japan and Japanese decor. She clearly wanted her portrait painted in her Japanese silk dress, with her Japanese ginger pot + Cherry Blossoms and her Japanese woodblock prints. The Japanese woodblock prints are well over 100 years old and the one with the Samurai and Cherry Blossoms also appears in the painting. We do know this oil painting and antique Japanese prints were hanging together in the family home in The Hague when acquired.

This lot also includes 6 framed Antique Japanese woodblock prints. All framed in 1 frame as seen in the photos. We believe these Japanese prints are from the late 19th / early 20th century. This was the type of souvenir wealthy European families would bring home from visits to Japan. The set of 6 individual prints are framed together, as seen. They are printed on Japanese paper and do show clear signs of yellowing and wear. The top 3 and bottom 3 each represent a specific Japanese story or Samurai battle.
