Autumn Hunt with Hounds (Dated 1887) - Antique Landscape Oil Painting
Signed C. André and dated 1887, this oil painting depicts a traditional autumn hunt. Riders in striking red coats lead a pack of hounds across a rustic landscape, framed by golden trees under a glowing sky. The composition recalls English sporting traditions, popular among French artists of the late 19th century. We believe C. André refers to the French painter Charles André (1841–1928), though this is not certain. Rich in seasonal atmosphere, this painting represents Autumn from a larger cycle of the Four Seasons. A beautifully detailed antique work, ideal for collectors of hunting and countryside scenes.
This antique painting has some signs of it's age but it is in good vintage condition. It has recently been to the restorer for a professional cleaning and new varnish applied. Ready to be hang, and to be enjoyed for generations. The frame also has some signs of it's age. Please see all photos
