19th Century Antique French Portrait of a Woman Original Pencil Drawing in Wood Frame
A very nice antique nude study drawing of a girl, dating from the 19th century. Signed by the Parisian artist E. Dameron, Émile Charles Dameron (1848-1908). This original drawing comes in a pretty wooden frame. This Antique Study is Framed behind glass.
About the Artist:
Émile-Charles Dameron was a distinguished French painter who studied under Léon Germain Pelouse and Constant Troyon.
A regular exhibitor at the Paris Salon from 1872 to 1907, Dameron earned critical acclaim, receiving a third-place medal in 1878 and a second-place medal in 1881. In 1876, he was awarded the prestigious Troyon Prize for excellence in animal painting at the École des Beaux-Arts. His work was also showcased internationally, including at the Glasgow Institute and the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin.
Renowned for his rural landscapes featuring animals and peasants, Dameron remained deeply committed to the principles of Realism. Influenced by his mentor Troyon, a leading figure of the Barbizon School, Dameron is often regarded as a successor to the Barbizon movement.
