Mid-19th Century Neoclassical French Oval Floral Still Life. Hard Pastel in Original Gilt Frame

A delicate and beautifully coloured French oval floral still life, likely dating from the mid-19th century, executed in hard pastel. The composition features roses, pansies, and garden flowers arranged in a classical bouquet, presented in its original oval gilt frame. This charming French floral still life showcases a lush bouquet of roses, pansies, and seasonal blooms, rendered with softness and precision in hard pastel. The artist’s control of colour and form gives the flowers a gentle luminosity, while the darker background enhances depth and contrast.

Good antique condition with light age-related wear. Pastel surface remains stable. Frame retains its original gilding with expected patina and minor rubbing. The oval format adds to the work’s grace and rarity, while the original gilt frame provides a warm, sculptural surround that elevates the composition. Together, artwork and frame form a refined and timeless decorative object.
