Signed and Dated 1886 - Marked Paris Antique Still Life Oil Painting in Antique Frame
Signed and dated 1886 and marked Paris on the back. A lovely food still life oil painting depicting a bowl of apples and pears. This antique oil painting dates from the late 19th Century and is quite typical of the evolving styles of still life paintings being created in Paris at the time. 1880s Paris was a city where both life and art was evolving fast, the impressionists were challenging what the world understood as fine art and painters were trying to take traditional styles and break out new visions on it. This artist clearly had a vision for his still life that was trying to evolve on the traditional styles seen in 1880s France. It is signed in the bottom left corner but unfortunately we can't make out the name. A great piece to have in your kitchen or dining room. Comes in its original Montparnasse frame
