A beautifully intimate circa 1850 English School portrait, capturing a young girl asleep, her head gently tilted and bathed in soft, diffused light. The closed eyes, relaxed features, and gentle turn of the head give the work a deeply personal quality. There is a softness in the modelling of the face and hair, with delicate transitions of light that recall the influence of John Everett Millais and the early Pre-Raphaelite circle.
Good antique condition with age-appropriate craquelure visible across the surface. The painting retains a soft and harmonious appearance. Frame with wear consistent with age. Presented in a highly decorative gilt frame, which complements the softness of the painting while giving it strong presence on the wall.

Amsterdam Curated will provide the appropriate certifications for the customs officials to ensure all qualified items will be shipped with this “Duty Free” classification. In the UK, it is not "FREE" but there is a reduced VAT of 5% paid at import.

A: As we do package all items very carefully with large amounts of quality packing materials, in the odd situation you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact our customer service team within 3 days of delivery with your order number and a description of the issue.
