Antique French Floral Still Life Oil Painting of Carnations

$707.00 Sold out
Tax included.

A charming early 1900s French oil painting depicting a lush bouquet of carnations in full bloom. The artist captures the delicate ruffled petals in soft shades of pink, cream and red, set against a warm, atmospheric background. Painted with expressive brushwork and an eye for natural beauty. Clearly inspired by the later career works by Édouard Manet and Henri Fantin-Latour. Manet loved using the tall clear glass vases in his expressive floral displays. In the later works, Fantin-Latour went into a more feathered, heavier brush in giving the flower pedals texture, quite different from the earlier realist romantic works.

The painting is presented in its original richly gold frame, which enhances its character. A wonderful statement piece for any room. The original frame has signs of its age, but this adds to it's charm. The painting has recently been to the restorer for a professional cleaning and new varnish applied, please see all photos.
