Antique French Female Nude Oil Painting, Rounded Gold Frame
A wonderfully intimate turn-of-the-century French nude, depicting a solitary figure seated on rocks beside the water, her face hidden behind her hands. Painted on artist’s board and presented in a beautifully simple rounded gold frame, the combination of the vulnerable pose, rocky shoreline and brilliant blue-green water gives this small painting an unusually compelling presence.
The figure sits curled inward, one leg folded beneath her while her elbows are raised and both hands cover her face. It is an unusually expressive pose, transforming what might otherwise have been a traditional academic nude study into something more private and emotionally ambiguous. Her hunched posture and hidden face give the painting a quiet sense of solitude, while the water visible immediately behind her introduces movement and freshness into the composition.
Good antique condition with age-related surface character consistent with its period. The gold frame retains an attractive aged patina with expected rubbing, marks and areas of wear to the gilded surface.

A: As we do package all items very carefully with large amounts of quality packing materials, in the odd situation you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact our customer service team within 3 days of delivery with your order number and a description of the issue.
