Large French Floral Still Life Oil Painting – Dark and Moody Flowers on Canvas

$1,145.00

A magnificent large French floral still life from the mid 19th century, overflowing with flowers and fruit in a richly composed arrangement. A dramatic and highly decorative antique oil painting. At the centre, a richly detailed bouquet bursts with colour and variety, including peonies, tulips, roses, and other seasonal blooms. Surrounding the arrangement are carefully placed fruits, including grapes and stone fruits, adding balance and a sense of abundance to the composition. The painting draws from the long tradition of European floral and fruit still lifes, echoing the influence of earlier Dutch and French masters. The artist uses contrast effectively, allowing the luminous flowers and fruit to emerge from the darker background with depth and drama.

Its larger scale makes this painting particularly impactful, ideal as a centrepiece for a dining room, living space, or collection wall.

Good antique condition consistent with age. The painting shows natural craquelure and surface patina. Some wear consistent with age is present. The painting is unframed, allowing flexibility for display or reframing to suit a particular interior.
