This charming Paris School (École de Paris) Impressionist French vintage landscape oil painting dates from around the Early 1900s. A wonderful Impressionist landscape painting of a little French town in what looks like the South of France, Cote d'Azure or Provence. The colours and layers of depth within the painting are exceptional. Painted by a talented and well renowned Parisian artist Suzanne Billet de Fombelle (1899–1953). Signed in lower right corner "S. Billet de Fombelle". This artist did have good gallery representation in Paris showing with the greats at the Paris shows through the 20s and 30s. The gallerist also always had great frames for the shows. This vintage oil painting comes in its original wood carved Montparnasse frame, a very nice frame. Please see all photos.
This painting has recently been to the restorer for a professional cleaning and has had a secondary canvas installed for stability. It looks like there was a fold in the canvas that the restorer used the secondary canvas to straighten. It was very well done by an excellent restorer. Please see all photos.

About the Artist:
Suzanne Billet de Fombelle (1899–1953) was a French painter known for her refined, lyrical approach to portraiture, still life, and landscapes. Active in the early to mid-20th century, she worked in the tradition of the École de Paris, blending post-impressionist colour with a modern sensitivity to light and composition. Billet de Fombelle often captured intimate subjects with elegance and clarity, creating works that balance delicacy and strength. Though not widely recorded today, her art reflects the cultural richness of interwar and postwar France. Her paintings remain valued for their charm, authenticity, and connection to a vibrant artistic era.
