About the artist: Born in 1914, Menkes started his career at the Art Institute in his hometown. In 1919, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow then off to Berlin a few years later. His journey led him to Paris in 1923 where he established quite a successful career as a working artist.
